Comprehending

NP-Ruthless (acoustic, live at fillmore, and on North)
by Something Corporate

I simply love this song... It's just... woah. Amazing vivid lyrics
Holy crap...

The last two days have been extremely difficult. Tuesday, we cleaned the basement all day and stuff. Then near the evening time, I went over to Trish's house and hung out for a while. It was cool to see her again and finally be able to do something. I saw her bass that she's been waiting for since August and finally got for Christmas. Her, Mariah, and I basically just hung out and talked the whole evening, which was a lot of fun :).
Got home and talked to Trish online for a little while, then Kara came online and... well things didn't go well.

Long story short, we got into it.

Doesn't really matter about what or who, I figure everyone who knows the story already knows it by now.

Woke up extremely late, due to not sleeping till around three. I ended up taking a shower at 1:30 and played guitar till three in the morning. What can I say, I wasn't tired :)

My mom had gone to Layton to see my uncle and his family so I was at home with my dad, who wasn't feeling to great today. Aparently he was under the weather with something, I feel kinda bad for him.

Anywho, I called Mitch and we hung out till like four. Then I hung out around the house and stuff till I talked to Trisha. Talked to her on the phone for a while while we worked out plans for the evening. Kara called a few minutes after Trish did and wondered if I could do something. I told her that I couldn't because I was going to Mariah's with Trish and that we'd have to do something later.

So, we go to Mariah's and hang out and stuff just talk and generally have a good time. Mariah spent way more then she needed to on me for Christmas. Bought me a really nice watch. Jessie and Kara got me some really cool Nightmare Before Christmas stuff too. Got this cool NMBC clock from Jessie and a Jack Skeleton snowglobe and Something Corporate pin from Kara, both of which are awesome. Thanks a ton you guys.

So we hung out at Mariah's till like 10:30 or so. Walked to the park and back and just generally hung out and had a good time.

Any somewhat dramatic events won't be discussed here simply cause I wanna forget them.

Came home and called Kara to try to sort things out. We (kinda) got things worked out...

Today (Thursday) I woke up late again from staying up late again. Hung out at home and watched kids most of the day. Then went to see National Treasure with my family. Great movie, one of the few good movie's that I've seen in a while.

*Random Moment*
These are some of the coolest lyrics ever in Thursday's song Paris in Flames:

Here in this collapsed lung of a borough
There is no sunlight
The sunlight is manufactured in a windowless room
Distant and incoherent
Businessmen hang themselves

Then afterwards, I ended up going bowling with Kara and Jessie.

I guess I've come to realize a few things over the past few days. People change. For better or worse, it doesnt matter, but it always happens. People gradually grow apart and change, no matter how hard it is, it will always happen. There's some things you can't do to fix a situation no matter how hard you try.

Anyways, buncha crap. I'm tired. Konstantine's a good song

NP-You Had It Coming But This Time Your A Dead Man
by June

Today was one of those laid back wasted days. Today I was way too solemn and it pissed me off. Went to my grandparents this morning and helped them out then came home and played guitar. Trudy came over and helped me reorganize my entire room, so now it's spotless, which is a good thing so I majorly owe her.
Then played with my little brother and played guitar for the rest of the evening. My mom came down and we talked a little, which helped a bit in sorting some stuff out. I keep forgetting my mom's smart :)

Eve and Day Of

NP-Forget December
by Something Corporate

First off, Merry Christmas to everyone and stuff. Christmas Eve was one of those busy days. Went to my Grandparents at 3 and hung out till about 5. It was my Grandpa's birthday. So, whole family was over and we all hung out and socialized. Afterwards, I went around dropping off everyones Christmas Presents (Sorry they were so lame, I ran out of cash :) ). Then went home and exchanged a few gifts and went to bed. Of course, I didn't go to bed. Stayed up and watched Nightmare Before Christmas THEN went to bed.

Christmas morning, woke up at seven. I got my awesome amp. I swear, that thing could shatter windows and kill small animals its so loud... Great during gigging, but I can keep it fairly low while at home :). I also got Metroid Prime 2 (the only game I have time for anymore) this cool rug/mat whatever you wanna call it thing, bunca candy and stuff. Overall, definately a good Christmas.

Played around with all the stuff then went to SLC and saw my grandparents and cousins. Then we got back and I played with my amp till one in the morning.

Sunday, it was Sunday. For some strange reason though, there were multiple hot girls in Sacrament Meeting today, I wonder where they all came from...?

Slured

NP- Say it Aint So
by Weezer

Alright, I probably won't be able to tell the difference in events over the past few days and will most likely slur them all together, so forgive me.

Friday went to school and all that jazz. Quite the lax day lucky for me. There was a Faculty vs. Freshman basketball game that was quite good during A4 that I went to for yearbook and took some pictures. Then after school, Kara came over around 5:30 and we hung out and talked for quite a while. Dan and his family came over aound 7 and hung out for a little while. Then Kara and I left to go meet Trisha, Mariah, and Mikelle to shoot pool. It was cool to see everyone since I hadn't seen them in quite a while. Kara took off around 10:30 with Zach so they could spend the rest of the evening doing something together. So Mariah, Trish, Mikelle and I hung out till eleven then headed home.

Saturday Lonny called me at like 7:45 in the morning and told me he was comming into town. So, I went to the ward Christmas breakfast and then Lonny and I hung out afterwards. We basically hung out around the house for the majority of the day calling different people. Dave came over and we ended up watching Nightmare Before Christmas. Then I scrounged up my last three bucks and headed to the Dollar theater and watched Shark Tale (which sucked). Came home and watched Wayne's World then hung out till like 8:45 at night when Lonny's parents came to pick him up. Then I wrote a little bit of a song I was working on till midnightish and went to bed

Sorry about being so mono-toned and unexciting, I dont know why I'm so unenergetic today :S

Today I woke up at like 11:30, way too late then I'd like. Was late for church, so I ended up walking and listening to Brand New on the way. Then I've been working on christmas stuff all day.

I really really need to write, but I haven't been in the mood, which isn't a good thing...

Yay

Np- Good News
by Something Corporate

Alright, quick one cause I am in need of some time to write, and I wanna get to bed at a decent hour.

First off, I finally won my amp today (Flextone III XL for those of you who care). $570 freakin' bucks after shipping. But dang is it nice.

Second, Something Corporate is comming to Utah on the 11th of February! I might kill someone if my parents won't let me go. Or maybe I'll sneak out and never go to another concert again just to go to that one.

Yay!

My Top 10 Of All Time:

NP- I'm Not Ok (I Promise)
by My Chemical Romance

Gall, today was worse then yesterday. Despite trying to be optimistic, it ended up not being fun. The overall school day was alright I guess. A4 we blasted American Idiot (the whole album) in the gym while getting ready for the dance and stuff. I swear, getting ready for the dances is always better then the actual dances. This year's dances have been pathetic.

Dance sucked. I don't wanna even take the time to describe it.

Alright, I'm tired of taking time complaining. Please forgive me for spending even that much time complaining.

'Excuse the bitchin'' - The Good Life by Weezer :P

Anywho, I figured I should have done this for a while. So, I will now reveal my...

TOP 15 BANDS OF THE YEAR!

Exciting eh? Lets get started:

15. Army of Freshman

Amazing Band. Not as commonly heard of. Infact, apart from Mitch, I doubt anyone I know has heard them. A mix of piano/keyboard rock. Awesome awesome band. Songs to listen to are 'Put Me In A Photograph, On The Night The Boardwalk Died, and Uniforms

14. Evanescence

Somewhat hesitant to place them on the list. Way WAY too mainstream now. Corporate sellouts... *sigh* WHY AMY WHY? Regardless, they have some amazing music. Songs you don't hear often that are worth listening to are Imaginary, Tournequit, and Hello

13. Thursday

I immediately fell in love with this band after listening to their album 'War All The Time'. They have tons of amazingly good songs. Their lyrics are simply astounding. I love their chaotic guitar parts that seem to echo on. These guys take advantage of dropped D :P. Songs to listen to are For The Workforce Drowning, M. Shepard, and War All The Time

12. Switchfoot

To be honest, I didn't love this band at first. Mainstream band (again) and was way overplayed. They have some very very good songs that have this feeling to them. Just a cool emotion you get from listening to them. Songs to listen to are On Fire, 24, and Dare You To Move

11. Blink-182

I know how many people hate blink and how tons of people think that they are untalented and suck at guitar. We all know that anyone under the sun can play anything that Tom's written. Even though they're simple, they are catchy. Blink really is just a fun band. Their new album, in my opinion, is their best. Shows a better side of blink. Songs to listen to are Dammit, Stockhome Syndrome, and Go.

10. Story of the Year

I love how they scream in their songs. They don't over use it and they scream at just the right parts just the right way to complement their amazing lyrics. They're extremely descriptive and its cool how they set you up in a world and tell a story. Songs to listen to are And The Hero Will Drown, Swallow The Knife, and Divide and Conquer.

Woah, made it through five of em, *breathes deeply and continues*

9. Cold

Really great band. Reminds me kinda of Evanescence in a way. Dark and powerful lyrics delivered through heavy metal riffs with a right mix of clean guitar as well. Somewhat reminds me of an emo sort of taste to, just becaue of the lyrics. Songs to liten to are Suffocate, Sad Happy, and Wasted Years.

8. Thrice

There aren't enough good things to say about Thrice. If you haven't heard them, buy their CD's. All of them. Lyrics are amazing, especially in Artist in the Ambulance and Don't Tell And We Won't Ask. Songs to listen to are Artist in the Ambulance, Don't Tell And We Won't Ask, and The Melting Point of Wax.

7. Sum 41

I'm surprized that I knocked Sum 41 back this far... kinda makes me sad. I love the new Sum 41 compared to the old. I like how their metal influences show through and mix with their punk roots. Chuck is a great CD, lyrics are quite good as well, especially in Angels with Dirty Faces. Songs to listen to are The Hell Song, No Reason, and Angels With Dirty Faces.

6. Counting Crows

I didn't love these guys at first and only listened to a few of their songs on their live album. But after really starting to listen to them, I realized how talented they are. You can tell when listening to Something Corporate that they were greatly influenced by this band. Amazing, heartfelt, sincere lyrics with cool lead guitar parts. Songs to listen to are Round Here, Mr. Jones, and A Murder of One.

Only five left... its almost one in the morning too. Holy crap.

5. Motion City Soundtrack

Another not extremely well known band. They have done a really great job at mixing keyboard and guitar parts together. The lyrics are cool, the music is cool, and has an innovative sound to it that no one else has done before. Songs to listen to are Modern Chemistry, Indoor Living, and The Future Freaks Me Out.

4. Weezer

Took an extremely unique spin and changed alternative music for the better. Weezer came up with something no one else had and complimented it with even more unique lyrics. Their style or writing is not like anyone elses. Plus, they have awesome solo's in their songs :) Songs to listen to are My Name is Jonas, Dope Nose, and The Good Life

3. Green Day

Founded the roots of lots of the music we have today. Their upbeat punk riffs revolutionized the music industry. Dookie changed the way music was written and recently was included in some magazine as the second best punk album of all time. American Idiot farther pushed Green Day's potential creating one of my favorite albums of all time. In my opinion, definately the album of the year. Songs to listen to are Minority, Holiday, and Jesus of Suburbia

2. Brand New

An extremely amazing band. Both their old and new stuff is extremely different, but extremely good. Their old stuff has a faster more punk feel to it while their new stuff has a more mature feel to it with almost a blues kinda punkish tone. The lyrics are simply amazing, from the breathtaking 'We pray as wolves among the sheep and slit the necks of soldiers while they sleep' to 'If looks could really kill, then my profession would be staring. You know we do this cause we care, not for the thrill. Collect call to home, to tell them that I realize that everyone who lives will someday die and die alone.' Songs to listen to are I Will Play My Game Benieth The Spin Light, Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't, The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows, The Shower Scene, and Seventy Times 7.

1. Something Corporate

For those of you who didn't see this one comming a million miles away, you must be blind and stupid at the same time. Something Corporate is in my opinion the single best band there is. Their music is unbelievable. Their lyrics are perfect. And their mix of piano into their work just adds to their ability. They combine the best of everything. Emo, punk, alternative, everything. Something Corporate's lyrics paint a vivid picture in your mind. You can literally see out of Andrew or Josh's eyes into whatever story is placed infront of you. From the moving lyrics of Me And The Moon and Konstantine to the stories Forget December and Fall. From the high school story of If You C Jordan to the story of Drunk Girl, they cover everything. This is the one band that I have been able to connect to most emotionally. I wish I could write nearly as well as Andrew does, he has this untouchable perspective of everything. It is truly amazing. Songs to listen to are everything by Something Corporate, but to be specific:

Konstantine
Forget December
Me And The Moon
I Woke Up In A Car
Fall
Cavanaugh Park
Break Myself
Ruthless
Hurricaine
Down

and many more.

Well, its one thirty in the morning and I'm starting to get tired. So I'm gonna sleep. Hope you enjoyed.

Back To The Good Life

NP- The Good Life
by Weezer

Another week has passed. Aparently insomnia has sept into my life again, causing me to be unable to sleep yet again. So I'm always way freaking tired and stuff... Making it hard to write cause im trying to get to sleep earlier. And making it harder to get to school on time.

Today kinda sucked. I woke up (late) and got an email canceling my 200 dollar deal with an ebay customer. Really pissed me off. Then being late to Jazz Band didn't help either. Skipped lunch cause they were out of food, no skittles in the vending machine (I know, boo hoo for me ;)). Then after school, took a biology test which I majorly screwed up. Had a bunch of math to do, which I still haven't finished. Mattie wasn't happy so I was trying to talk to her. I wanted to go see Trish play at her concert, but instead I had to go to some mutual thing. Then I got home and wanted to play guitar, but my sister was asleep (cause we didn't get home till like 9:30)...

A buncha little things, wasn't majorly a bad day I guess, but still was frustrating I guess. Sometimes even being optimistic (which I try to do extremely often) isn't enough.

So... 'screw this crap, I've had it' (man, I love Weezer). I'll just blow this shiz off and take a break tomorrow. Family party that I have to go to, but I will be bringing my acoustic and no one will be stopping me. No one. I'll play and sing as well as I damn well please (cause it makes me feel good :)). There's just something about playing guitar that helps me feel good. It's my way of expressing emotion and I enjoy it.

I love Weezer. Amazing band. period.

Saturday the fourth I think of December

NP-Highway to Hell
by AC/DC

Today was quite the long day, especially for not waking up till like 10 and then staying in bed talking to Mattie till like 11. Went to the Grace family Christmas party. I know like zero people there at all. Shaun and I just kinda hung back and stuff. Then we bailed out early cause he had a project he had to work on for school and I had Algebra II homework.

Came home and just kinda laid back and did whatever. Talked to Kara a little today on the phone for a while. Dan also came over for a little while cause he took my dad home from SLC. So we had a little music appreciation lesson ;).

Got bored and so I learned some AC/DC songs for kicks. Then my family and I went to go see Napoleon Dynamite, and now I'm talking to Emmalee and Mitch online for a little while before bed. Though, I should get some sleep. I haven't had a decent night in a while... too much crap to think about :P

Survived

NP-Bowzer's Castle
by Jinxed

Quite a good band, I'd give them a listen if I were you. Find em on www.purevolume.com. Finally another half decent chick band.

Today was slow. Made it through the day and then went to Dave's house. Had a fun little jam session and stuff. Unfortunately, Dave's mom is noise intolerant it seems... So next time we're going to my house :).

Came home and called Trisha. Didn't get a hold of her so I called Kara to see what she was upto. She ended up comming over for around 2 and a half hours or so. We just hung out in the living room and talked. I really love being able to talk to her again.

Well, its 12:45 and im freakin tired. Going to bed.

Blank, titleless, get over it.

Seventy Time 7 (still playing it :P)
by Brand New

Gall, thats a freaking awesome song.

Anyway, Wednesday was a standard casual day and stuff. Then Dan came over and we had an extremely good jam session. Learned some stuff and got a bit better at playing by ear and feeling the music, as well as feeling what sounds right when soloing. Really good lesson, helped me a ton.

I barely got up today, and got up late. I was wasted from staying up late the last two nights before and am kinda tired now too, but I decided that I had to do this just cause I didn't wanna wait a week to do it. Got to school 45 min late and just went through the day and stuff. Had a $*#^ load of homework to do and felt quite overwhelmed. I helped out my grandpa by hanging chrismas lights at his house. Got home and did homework for the rest of the night, I really don't know why I couldn't handle it very well, but I was fsking pissed off. Had to redo a bunch of ebay crap too, which probably didn't help make matters better by any means.

I really feel in a writing mood so I'm gonna see what I can crank out, its been a while since I last wrote something so lets see how things turn out shale we?
